Here you can find the Castle of Crusaders and a lot of other gothic monuments. In the DownTown you can visit the Сity Hall - built in 1272; in ancient times a jail and city Treasury Department were here. Also the house of Nikolay Kopernick - its house-museum where he was born and grew up this famous astronomer. There are a lot of objects in the house which tell its visitors about the life and work of the great astronomer. Forth Fort of Torun Fortification - one of the constructions that was not destroyed during the Second World War. The crooked Tower is one of the strangest places of interest in Torun. According to the initial plans of constructors the building should not be crooked, but in short time after it was finished, it saged because of the sandy ground it was built on. Museum of gingerbread - the region is famous for its history of production of gingerbread. In the museum you can listen to the story of the cooking of this ancient delicacy and even prepare your own gingerbread with the help of the local chef. One interesting and original fact about Torun is that due to the fact of its special economic area many Japanese electronic multinational companies are opening their factories in Torun surroundings giving local people a lot of jobs and creating a multinational environment. 

 

Apart from Torun we can not forget about Bydgoszcz, the second capital of the province. The city has for a lot of years because of its history of cereal trading and till now in the city big granaries exist. Bydgoszcz became one of important cities in Poland exactly because it was the main point of cereal trading. There is a unique world museum of Soap and Dirtiness, which shows the importance of hygiene.
