Information

The province of Palencia in Spain is located in the north of the country and is a part of the autonomous community of Castile and Leon. For many years, the administrative center of the province has been the city of Palencia.
 

This tourist destination is not suitable for lovers of beach holidays, because Palencia is significantly removed from the coast. Among Russian-speaking citizens, the purchase of real estate here is considered a very profitable investment; moreover, many are interested in buying a land plot in Palencia.

There will be no special problems with the purchase; such housing is estimated at 90-200 thousand.
 

Villas. Due to the fact that under this name is often understood as an elite mansion on the coast, such type of real estate in is absent here. However, those who want to buy a villa in Palencia will be definitely offered a spacious house with a high level of comfort. The cost of such offer starts from 600 thousand euros. Rest in such a private residence is possible for 250-350 euros per day.

Transport

There is no own airport in Palencia, but you can quickly get there by ground transport.
 

By train. The railway station in the provincial capital is one of the points of Madrid-Valladolid-Palencia-Leon-Oviedo railway service. There is a direct train from Madrid; the length of the trip is about 1 hour 45 minutes. The road from Valladolid will take 30-40 minutes, from Leon - about 1 hour.
 

By car. There are several highways in the province:
 

  • А-62 (Valladolid-Palencia-Burgos);

  • А-67 (Palencia - Santander).

Attractions

When arriving in the province, many tourists go to its administrative center. The old part of this city is popular with its historical sights. One of the most outstanding monuments of antiquity is the Franciscan monastery dating back to the 13th century, the Iglesia de San Francisco de Palencia. The Gothic cathedral stretches out not far from it. El Greco's creations are kept there. You can not ignore the Church of San Miguel, where the wedding ceremony of Sid and Donja Himena, the heroes of the Spanish epic, took place.
 

An equally attractive sight for tourists will be the twenty-meter-long statue of Christ, which is the third largest in the world.
 

Once outside the city, you can travel to the numerous towns and villages of the province, that still preserve the spirit of past years.  It is the pilgrim centers of Villalcasar de Sirh and the Carrión de los Condes, Arréré de Pisaurga, where the ruins of the medieval fortress walls and the church in the cave of Oleryos de Pisuera are situated.
