It's a heart of polish ortodox christianism and a destination for many pilgrims during the years. At the time of the cholera epidemic many people were hiding here. They were praying and drinking water from the local source hoping it would help them to recover. Close to the main square you can find the museum of the Polish army, the place which almost every man would be happy to visit. The museum is divided into different halls where you can see the evolution of Polish belic thematic starting from knightly times till nowadays. If you are interested in science don't miss the local palace of medicine. Museum has a very rich collection of original objects. Here you can see alcoholized parts of the brain, the dentist gabinet of the beginning of 20 th century, first x-ray machines and first machines for diagnostication and treatment of vision. As a matter of fact that the majority of objects are not under the glass and are not protected by anything, the visit to the museum is possible only with a guide. The guide for sure will tell you a lot of interesting facts about the exposition. Another interesting museum is the Museum of sculpture of Alfonso Karni. Alfonso Karni is a famous polish sculptor and  painter who was born in Bialystok. His works were exhibited in Poland and in other countries, he was distinguished in some Paris expositions. His main artistic line were the busts of famous people, among them Szopen, Pilsudski, Kopernik, Rubinstein.
