Pomeranian Voivodeship (Pomorskie) – is one of the oldest Polish regions located near Baltic Sea and, therefore, it’s famous for its port. In summer, coastal cities become the favorite place for holidays for local people and a big amount of German tourists. In the past, Pomorskie formed part of Germany, and you can see it reflected in local architecture which is very different from the rest of the country and represents a mixture of late gothic and baroque. The region has 4 main cities: Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot and Slupsk. The biggest city and center of the Pomorskie zone is Gdansk. Gdansk is an important cultural, transport, architectural and academic center of the country. It is located in Baltic sea and its population is around 500000 people, of whom 80000 are students. In summer Gdansk is one of the popular destinations for local and international tourism. Due to the fact that a lot of students and tourists look for flats or houses for rent or sale, prices for housing are high enough in some regions  exceeding even Warsaw. 

 

Pomeranian Voivodeship is attractive for business. In 2014 there were 276 thousand enterprises. The main activities are trading, vehicle repairing and construction. Favorable geopolitical location makes this region an important industrial center. The main products produced there are refined oil products, production of food, and electronic elements. 

 

Good developed economical infrastructure makes the region attractive for investors, first of all in the area of construccion. In 2014 there was built 10,4 thousand of new flat. The majority of new flats for sale and renting are built by private investors.

Gdansk has high demand among both prospective homeowners and people looking for a flat or house for rent or sale. Housing in Gdansk can be considered one among the most expensive cities in Poland – Warsaw, Gdynia, Krakow, Lodz, Poznan and Wroclaw. There is a very high demand for apartments for rent and sale, first of all in the city center area, where there are a lot of small modern studios in old monumental buildings which are popular among students and visitors, mainly in summertime. For people who decide to invest in their own apartment in Gdansk, not just to own real estate but also as an investment due to a continuous price increase of real estate in Poland, there are a lot of different opportunities to find apartments and houses for sale. You can buy a small flat in the city center for living or renting, a bigger one in some more quiet area around 20-30 min from the center or just rent your own house in the outskirts of Gdansk.  People who prefer to have their own house mostly choose Sopot, a small, nice city, with a beautiful beach and pleasant environment.

Transport

Gdansk has an international airport just 15 km from the city center. There are a lot of low cost flights to different European capitals. You can get to the airport by comfortable train, it takes around 30 min or by taxi, Uber works perfectly in Poland.

Attractions

Pomeranian Voivodeship has a rich cultural offer - several theaters, opera, concert hall, cinemas. It attracts artists, painters and amber jewelers. It's a place of different concerts, expositions and street shows. The cities of Pomeranian take care of their visitors and offer them clean beaches and different routes for cycling and walking. 

 

Gdansk is a mixture of history and modernity. The city offers incredible architecture, a lot of cathedrals, and old shipyards. In the DownTown you should see several interesting objects. The old city hall and the monument to Jan Hevelius - Polish astronomer, telescope constructor and the first mayor of Gdansk. Not far from the old city hall you can find the so-called Bread Bridge (Most Chlebowy), the House of miller and a Big Mill. The Big Mill was one of the biggest industrial buildings in medieval Europe. It was built around the year 1350, destroyed in 1945 and reconstructed some years ago. For sure you won't  miss the huge and monumental building of Saint Katheryna Cathedral, whose construction began in the beginning of 13 century and finished in the 14th century. Its tower height is 76 meters.  At the same time you can find very intense night life. The city offers a lot of original places to have fun with your friends and try local food and drinks.  Due to its location, near the sea, the most popular dishes are from fish: trout, arctic char, etc.

 

In Gdansk you can take a ferry and go to the famous island Hel, the trip takes approximately 1,30 hour. On the island you can enjoy the beautiful baltic coast with  a lot of aquatic activities in summer, among them surfing (Hel is a place very famous among surf lovers) .

 

One more activity which attracts a lot of people to Gdansk, Gdyna, Sopot are numerous musical festivals that take place in these cities.
